Kaspersky Lab to open 3 offices in North America in 2018

MOSCOW, Sep 12 (PRIME) -- Russian antivirus software maker Kaspersky Lab will continue to invest in its U.S. business and will open three new offices in the North American region in 2018, but is studying ways to optimize its Washington branch due to the complicated geopolitical situation, a company spokesperson said on Tuesday.

“All three existing offices of Kaspersky Lab in the U.S. function at present, including the one in Washington,” the spokesperson said.

Edition The Bell said earlier that Kaspersky Lab may shut down its division Kaspersky Government Security Solutions in Washington, which is in charge of contacts with state authorities.

“Supplies to American state authorities constitute a minor share of sales in the region,” the spokesperson said. Kaspersky Lab plans to continue to invest in the development of its local business and plans to open three new offices in 2018 in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Toronto.

U.S. mass media reported earlier in September, citing sources, that the Senate wants to impose a complete ban on the use of Kaspersky Lab’s products by state authorities and their affiliated firms amid worries that the company may be in cahoots with the Kremlin. Russia denies all the allegations.
